TARPTENT Scarp 1 - is a patented, weather-proof tent designed with low fly edges, double walls, and a spacious interior capable of sleeping two. It is constructed with a robust 9.3 mm arch pole and offers an extra-wide living space, making it suitable for various environments from Mt. Rainier to the Scottish Highlands. The tent features two porches for excellent ventilation and sheltered entry, and optional crossing poles (sold separately) can be added for increased strength in harsh weather conditions. Weighing 1186 grams (carbon pole, solid interior) without crossover poles, the Scarp 1 is considered lightweight for its category and has demonstrated reliable performance on multiple TGO Challenges and shorter trips. 

Specifically designed for UK conditions, the Scarp 1 is a stable single hoop tent that can be upgraded with two crossover poles for winter use (sold separately). Each end of the tent is supported by two double poles and one short pole, which significantly improves stability. The tent’s double-walled structure includes two doors and two vestibules, providing ample space for storage and reducing internal condensation by keeping the inner tent separate from the outer fly. During heavy rain, the outer fly can be set up independently to keep the inner compartment dry, a feature that differentiates it from more conventional two-walled tents.

The Scarp 1 offers a comfortable and spacious inner compartment with vertical walls and a high ceiling, maximizing usable space and minimizing condensation transfer. Internal gear loops allow for the hanging of wet gear, and the tent’s design includes provisions for adding mesh pockets and clotheslines if desired. Included with the Scarp 1 are six 23 cm long Easton aluminum tent stakes, essential for securing the tent in various ground conditions. The vestibules, while narrow, provide space to store gear and keep wet items separate from the inner compartment. Overall, the Tarptent Scarp 1 is praised for its comfort, versatility, and ability to withstand challenging weather.

Seams aren't sealed. We recommend to use GEAR AID Seam Grip SIL seam sealer to achieve complete waterproofness. We do not offer seam sealing service at this time. It is important to note that seam sealed products can no longer be returned within 30 days. However, the product is still under warranty.
